Rudi Ekmen, esporter from Club Brugge, is set to compete in the EA FC Pro World Championship Play-in on July 10th, 2024, in Berlin. This event is a crucial qualifier for the FC Pro World Championship.
Ekmen recently secured the ePro League title, solidifying his position as Belgium's top EA Sports FC 24 player. His journey to the title was marked by an impressive regular season, where he earned 37 points out of a possible 45. In the finals, held at Kinepolis in Brussels, Ekmen defeated Cercle Brugge, KVC Westerlo, and Union SG to claim the championship.
As the Belgian champion, Ekmen has earned a spot in the group stage of the eChampions League in London. In this tournament he managed to get the attention by getting to the knockout stage of the tournament. After beating the likes of Tekkz of Manchester City and former world champion Umut of RB Leipzig, Ekmen crashed out of the tournament losing in the last 16 to current world champion Manuel Bachoore of PSV.
The upcoming Play-in event in Berlin is Ekmen's next big test. A big performance here could earn him a spot in the EA FC Pro World Championship starting the next day on July 11th in Berlin aswell.
During the Play-in he faces 19 other champions from domestic league across the world. Only 8 of them will make it to the World Championship. Ekmen will face a group with champions of Finland, Lithuania, Singapore and Chile. The winner of the group will advance to the World Championship. The numbers 2 and 3 of every group will play a direct playoff to decide the last 4 participants of the FC Pro World Championship.
Ekmen feels ready for the tournament ‘’I’ve been training hard to get back to my level. There has been some time between the eChampions League and the Play-in but i can’t wait to play and show people what i’m capable of.’’
Rudi Ekmen's performance in Berlin will be streamed on all official channels of EA Sports FC.
