ePremier League and ePro League Stars Set for eChampions League Clash

Status Pro Esports players are ready to shine in the eChampions League

The eChampions League is around the corner and two of Status Pro Esports players are qualified for this prestigious event. Every year, all players look forward to playing this tournament and its unique format. Qualifying for this tournament has been harder than ever. Only the best players in the domestic leagues earned their spot in the tournament. So just like the real Champions League only the top-tier players will be featured in the tournament.

Jayden Groden is the first Status Pro Esports player who managed to qualify for the eChampions League. After an incredible campaign in the ePremier League representing Brighton and Hove Albion alongside his teammate Marc Marley, he earned a spot by reaching the final of the ePremier League. Going into the tournament he will be facing a tough group featuring the winners of the eSerie A and eDivisie and also the grand finalist of last year. Groden feels confident going into the group stage  ‘’I know the level I can reach in these tournaments, I feel confident and if I get going I will get out of the group.’’

Rudi Ekmen is the other player that earned his spot in the tournament. The Club Brugge player is in fine form after winning the ePro League just 2 weeks ago. During that tournament, he showed that he is able to adjust his game plan to many different attacking variations. Especially his corners are a weapon and he put up a complete corner masterclass. ‘’Corners are like penalties in this game, you have to make use of it and use it to your advantage.’’ Ekmen is facing a tough group featuring the likes of ‘Tekkz’ of Manchester City. They played each other last year in the eChampions League group stage where Tekkz eliminated Ekmen from the tournament.

Both players will be playing their group stage games on the 11-12 of May in London where the goal is to finish in the top 3 of the group. This will grant them a spot in the knockout stage at the 18-19 of May back in London. The tournament will be broadcast on the official EA Sports FC YouTube and Twitch channels starting from 17:00 CEST.
