Joey Antonioli made a strong start at FC Twente/Heracles Academy U21 after transferring from FC Volendam at the beginning of September. The 20-year-old striker has scored four goals in three matches. He made his entrance with a hat-trick on his debut and had to face an injury in his second match.    

A new role  

A challenge awaited Joey at his new club. He will be playing as a striker, moving from his previous role as an attacking midfielder. He is used to playing with a lot of depth, but playing as the deepest man is a completely new role.  

Debut to remember  

During his debut, Joey showed little difficulty in adapting to his new role. After only a few training sessions, he started in the match against FC Groningen.  

Joey scored a hattrick on his debut in a 2-4 away win against FC Groningen. Twente/Heracles were two goals behind after 53 minutes. Joey scored his first goal in the 72nd minute to start the comeback. The comeback was completed when he scored in the 83rd minute and in injury time. This performance is definitely something to remember as he helped his team to their first three points of the season.  

Setbacks and recovery    

Joey's start at his new club suffered a setback in his second game. Despite managing to score in a 4-0 win against Cambuur, the striker unfortunately suffered an ankle injury. This setback forced him to miss the next match.  

Looking forward  

Despite the minor setback, he made his comeback in the match against De Graafschap last weekend. Joey Antonioli's adventure at FC Twente/Heracles has only just begun. We are excited to continue supporting Joey's career and see him become the player he can become.
