Introduction
The KNVB (Royal Dutch Football Association) has officially announced a partnership with the PSSI (Indonesian Football Federation) through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) during the KNVB's recent visit to Indonesia. This collaboration aims to foster significant progress in both men's and women's football in Indonesia, highlighting a commitment to mutual development and sustainable success.
The Case
PSSI President, Erick Thohir, emphasized the importance of this partnership, stating that it will help enhance the relationship between the two federations for mutual benefit and promotional development. "PSSI and KNVB have agreed to develop a stronger relationship between the two federations for mutual benefit, promotional development, and sustainable football success," Thohir remarked.
Gijs De Jong, Secretary General of the KNVB, expressed his enthusiasm for this cooperation, noting that the Netherlands has a wealth of top coaches and talent identification expertise. This partnership represents a crucial step forward for the future of football in both Indonesia and the Netherlands, with an agreement duration of four years.
Our Approach
Status Pro Sport plays a pivotal role in facilitating, developing, and ensuring that this partnership is mutually beneficial. Managing Director Estafano van Aanholt stated, "In recent years, we have worked with both federations on great projects. This is the right time from our vision to bridge the gap between the Netherlands and Indonesia in terms of football development." Status Pro Sport will support this intensive partnership from its offices in both countries.
Additionally, Marc Klok, who transitioned from Dutch football to Indonesia, expressed pride in being part of this collaboration: “I am very proud to realize this. Both countries can strengthen each other considerably, and being part of this together with Status Pro Sport allows me to leave a positive impact on the Indonesian football landscape.”
The Result
The first outcome of this collaboration was an international friendly match between the Dutch women's national team and Indonesia on October 25. This match signifies the beginning of a series of initiatives aimed at enhancing football development at various levels.
Furthermore, discussions were held with the Ministry of Youth and Sports regarding potential cooperation in grassroots football and futsal development. The partnership between KNVB and PSSI not only aims to improve coaching standards but also focuses on talent development across all age groups.
