Sandy Walsh has just been announced as the new player for Yokohama F. Marinos. This is his first time playing in Asia, especially J-League 1. Yokohama F. Marinos is one of the top clubs in J-League 1 and has a strong ambition to challenge for titles and cup championships. Sandy Walsh is excited about his new challenge in the Land of the Rising Sun.
In an exclusive interview with Status Pro Sport, Sandy said that it wasn’t a difficult decision to move to Asia. "I’ve always wanted to play outside of Europe, so when the chance came, I was very excited for this new opportunity!" he explained. "J-League has always been a big competition I wanted to play in, and it’s an honour. I’m so happy," Sandy added.
Sandy is always ready for new challenges. "I’ve always been able to adapt and embrace change, " he says. This fuels his determination to prove himself in a new culture and out of his comfort zone.
He also shared his ambition with Yokohama F. Marinos: "The goal is to adapt quickly, get more playing time, and show myself in the J-League as soon as possible." To help him in his mission, Sandy has also been learning some Japanese, including Hiragana and Katakana, through anime like Naruto.
