Please Introduce yourself.
My name is Yesse Frijters. I am from Maarssen and am 25 years old. My hobby is mainly the work I do now, which is gaming and esports. I have always been interested in football. So in my spare time, I watch this a lot with family and friends.
From a young age, I was already playing football fanatically. Unfortunately, I quit because of an injury. This is how I ended up in the world of esports, from the real playing field to the virtual one. I already played FIFA myself in my spare time, but have become more serious about this since the summer of 2019. Where one door closed for me, another opened. And that was the beginning of my esports career.
How did you get in touch with Status Pro Esports?
Because of Damon de Best, esporter at Sparta Rotterdam, I joined Status Pro Esports. I've known him since we both started in the world of Esports. I have always kept in touch with him a lot and a friendship really developed. Through a tip-off from him, I got in touch with Estafano. Both sides were enthusiastic, so in a short time we decided to start working together.
Can you take us through your experience and expertise as an Esporter?
In the summer of 2019, I started in a combination role as an esporter and coach. At that time, I found out that helping others suited me better. This is where I started to develop more and more. I played several tournaments abroad, realising how bizarre it is to be allowed to travel the world for a game. These are truly unique experiences. For instance, I got to take part in World Cup matches and the eChampions League with my team.
For what reason did you chose Status Pro Esports?
I take business quite seriously. Status Pro Esports is more than just playing the game. The overall picture is right and the vision is clear. In addition, the combination between esports itself and the marketing around it also really appeals to me. I find the connection Status Pro Esports makes with brands from a marketing perspective very interesting.
Given that I also studied commercial economics, I can apply elements from this in addition to just coaching. Previously, I was quite limited in this. My focus at first was really on coaching. Now I can also offer support to work out certain ideas together with a team. What is really the biggest challenge is that the boys start building their own brand in addition to playing. That they really learn to project themselves as their own brand. That is our goal.
A lot of attention is therefore paid to it. People often see a name and a face, but don't know the person. We want to tell the story behind the person. I am really starting with a nice new challenge. We have a fresh team which we want to make the most of this season and lay a stable foundation for next season.
What are your goals within Status Pro Esports? What would you like to achieve?
With Esports , one of my goals is obviously to win championships and eDivision prizes. Apart from that, my goal is to develop the boys. I want to gain experiences with them to show them how beautiful the world of esports can be and that they can become the best version of themselves.
Being able to guide and coach my team during a World Cup really gives me a buzz and makes me hungry for more.
