In 2021, the KNVB trusted Status Pro Sport with the project Oranje Indonesia. The purpose of the project is to establish a fan page that aims to engage 12 million Oranje fans in Indonesia. Over the past 3 years, Oranje Indonesia has grown immensely having over 135k followers and multiple activations initiated. Let’s take a look at the reason and the way we are able to achieve this.
Cultural Exchange
Indonesia and the Netherlands have a strong relationship due to the historical ties of centuries-long colonization, which laid the foundation of this whole project. This relationship, combined with Indonesia’s affinity with football, provides a lot of opportunities to an already existing fan base of the Dutch national football team in Indonesia.
Localization of Content
The Oranje Indonesia Instagram page (@Oranje_Indonesia) provides content and updates about Oranje’s activities catered specifically to the Indonesian audience. We are able to use Bahasa Indonesia as the main way of communication and create content about Oranje that relates to trends and interests in Indonesia. This localization strategy enables content about Oranje to be more accessible and relatable for the fans in Indonesia.
Various Methods of Engagement
The Oranje Indonesia project went beyond social media engagement. We utilize major events like the World Cup and the Nations League to connect with fans through community events and brand activations. During the 2022 World Cup, we organized the Oranje Indonesia Festival which attracted 3,000 spectators and created unforgettable fan experiences. Additionally, we conducted football clinics and tours across the country, featuring players like Marc Klok (Persib Bandung) and Ardi Idrus (Bali United) to further strengthen the bond with Indonesian Oranje supporters.
Status Pro Sport is a proud partner of the KNVB and looks forward to future initiatives and activations that will further strengthen the bond between Oranje and its Indonesian supporters. With more initiatives planned for the EURO 2024, the Oranje Indonesia project continues to be an important part of the KNVB's international strategy, by nurturing a lasting connection with its passionate Indonesian fan base.
